Who can apply?

All candidates must, during the applicable scholarship year (from September of this calendar year to June of next calendar year), be a full-time university student in Canada, must be in good standing, with financial need, scholastic ability, character, community service, and potential to contribute to the Kingdom of God.

All candidates must also belong to one of the following two categories:

1. Academic Excellence Scholarship: A candidate must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program including Undergraduate, Master’s, or Doctorate (Ph.D.) Degree Program at an accredited college or university, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 (B+) over the past two (2) semesters. For those who are accepted in a university degree program in September this year, your academic grade must meet the same standard of university GPA of 3.3 (B+) reflecting your previous school district GPA system.

2. Need-Based Scholarship: A candidate must be a current student at an accredited university, have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 (C+), and demonstrate financial need. For more information, please see application form.

when to apply?

The application period begins during the second week of July each year. Applications for the 4th Annual YLT Scholarship must be submitted by Sunday, August 13, 2023. Late applications will not be accepted. Scholarship results will be notified via selected recipients’ emails and the YLT Scholarship Foundation website.

how to apply?

If you are interested in being considered for the Canada YLT Scholarship, please complete the application form available on this page and adhere to the requirements listed below. All documents must be in PDF form.

Personal Statement/Essay : Describe your spiritual development, your participation in the church, and your goals or vision for serving your neighbors and expanding the kingdom of God (750 words).

Transcript : Official transcript is required and must include the most recent two semesters. First-year students for the Fall semester can submit an official transcript for Grade 12.

Proof of Enrollment : An official Letter of Enrollment is required from your academic institution. For those applicants who are accepted to a university, an official Letter of Acceptance is required.

Letter of Recommendation : Two (2) letters of recommendation are required. One must be from a senior pastor with whom you are currently attending church. The other letter can be from an associate pastor, professor, or supervisor who can evaluate the applicant’s intellectual qualities, character, contribution to an organization.

NOTE: The candidates who submitted the online application also required to send the original required copies to the address below BEFORE August 18TH, 2023. The committee will not accept any mails after this date.

selection process

The YLT Scholarship Committee will carefully review each application and select qualified and capable applicants. Scholarship results will be notified via selected recipients’ emails as well as on the YLT Scholarship Foundation website. Selected candidates then required to submit all the original documents via regular post mail. At the award ceremony, scholarships will be presented, and recipients will be informed of the time and location.
